Ranking Information
All members of Scag will be ranked according to their total wins. In order to obtain any member ranking, a fellow Scag must qualify for it by obtaning enough wins. Under no circumstances will a member be allowed to move up in rank without first achieveing the required amount of wins. When a member of Scag has earned enough wins to be called by a new rank, his/her rank will be updated within a few days. The current system of updating member ranks is dependent on the main Scag bot. The bot logs are parsed with a custom program that looks for a user's wins when he/she joins the channel. Updates are performed every 2 - 3 days. If it has been more than a week and a rank has not been updated, please notify BannedScag by using the "Contact Scag" form.

Details on How the Ranking System Was Set Up
So, you wanna know how we got our ranking system? First of all, the upper limit was set at 1000 wins for the obvious reason. Guess why. Lemme give ya a hint, its not because its a "nice pretty round number." Still don't know? Fine I'll tell you. The upper limit was set at 1000 wins because of the nature of this clan. We are Starcraft Addicted Gamers (emphasis on addicted). In order for the ranking system to mean anything, it was set up with a high enough limit that even addicted gamers like us wouldn't acheive for a while. For those of you who would like to know how it was made so that coincidentally it added up to 1000, here's how.

First lemme give ya a little background on the ranking system. These are the real United States ranks for enlisted soldiers as well as officers, in the correct order. The list of ranks was compiled by IllRapeYou_SCAG in the October of 2001. I, BannedScag, set the number of wins required for each rank in early November of that same year using a sliding scale of percentages to figure out how exactly to divide up the wins per rank. For the first four ranks, any member of Scag must attain 1% of the total (the total being 1000) to move up in rank, or in other words, ten wins. For the next four ranks, each member is required to gain 3% of the total (30 wins per rank). For the next four, you need 5% (50 wins per rank). The next, 7% (70 wins per rank). Finally, the last four, 9% (90 wins per rank). Adding this up, we see that the percentages all add up to 25% which is then multiplied by four (because there are four sets) and you see you end up with 100% (1000 wins total). This system of dividing up ranks can be used for any ranking system regardless of the number of ranks, sets, or total limit.
