Remember, if you have StarEdit open at the same time as this program it WILL NOT be able to create a map file, this is the most common problem!

"So you made all those sexy pic maps?"
Alright first of all, I'd like to point out that I, BannedScag, have only made the Sexy Pics maps AFTER 10. From 11 onward, I used a program that I personally wrote to create the maps. Sexy Pics Parts 1 - 10 were made by a guy called Vangaurd from Clan Twisted. It appears that the clan twisted site is gone, the official site http://www.clan-twisted.com is a dead link. Now that that's been said, YES, I did make all the Sexy Pic maps after 10. You will find more info on them farther down this page.

"How does the SCPM5 work?"
So as to not bore you with technical details all at once, I'll give a quick overview:

1) A picture is opened. You can load JPG, PNG, GIF, or BMP.
2) The "Create Map" button is clicked, and a map file is created.

That's it, its as simple as that. The program has tons of options for people that want to tweak the way their maps look. It allows you to change the brightness, contrast, map size, tileset, and compression options for the output file.

"Ok, how about them technical details?"
Ok here goes: I started out this project by taking a hex editor and examining the contents of an uncompressed (.CHK) scenario file. I was able to find out that each 1x1 grid on a map has a unique 2-byte code associated with it. By modifying the code of any X,Y coordinate, you basically change its tile to another tile.

Once I figured out that this was possible, I simply took note of every tile's color and 2-byte code. SCPM1 used 10 different tile codes, corresponding to 10 different shades. SCPM2 uses quite a few more, but mostly gray shades, and we all know that's boring! SCPM3 and onward use all available shades on each tileset (as far as I know) and match each pixel on the image to the map tile that best represents it!

I wrote SCPM2 in VB6, in the time span of about 2 days working on it on and off. I wrote SCPM3 in C++, in the time span of about 10 days working on it on and off. I wrote SCPM4 in C++ .NET, in the timespan of about 10 days, working on it on and off. I wrote SCPM5 in the timespan of about two weeks on and off in my spare time, using Visual Studio 2005 (.NET Framework 2) in C#.

"How does this program match up the colors?"
In the individual RGB values of each pixel are compared to all available tileset colors. As this is done, the differences are noted, and after all tileset data has been processed, the one with the smallest difference is chosen as representative of that specific pixel.

"What about those Sexy Pic maps?"
I've made all the maps after 11, all the way up to 100. I stopped making at 100 when I made SCPM2, but made 10 extra to promote SCPM3's color mode. If you see any other Sexy Pic maps out there past 110 then they weren't made by me. Below are links to the zip files containing all the Sexy Pic maps 1 - 110, check em out!
